LAST WEEKEND the United States failed miserably in its continuing efforts to get its hands on Venezuela’s 300 billion barrels of oil when its efforts to encourage army officers to defect to their chosen puppet Juan Guaidó failed in an unsuccessful attempt to send an “aid convoy” into the country.
Instead the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza accused the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of delibrating orchestrating torching of the “aid” trucks with Venezuela-bound “humanitarian aid” on the Colombian border and of desperately looking for a reason to start a war against Caracas and discredit the frequently re-elected Bolivarian governments of Presidents Chavez and Maduro.
He pointed out that Secretary Pompeo, who was a CIA specialist in false flag operations “thinks that he will fool the world with the truck that was set on fire in Colombia by his own agents... Pompeo and his hit men are desperately looking for a cause for war. Today, the operation failed. If you want to find those who burnt the truck with fake humanitarian aid, look for them among your own staff”.
This did not stop US Vice President, Mike Pence who just happened to be at the Lima summit in Bogota, the capital Colombia at the same time, to accuse the “sadistic” Venezuelan military under President Nicolas Maduro had caused the destruction of vital aid supplies intended for “suffering people.” He also failed to note the vehicles were still in Colombia or that shortages in Venezuela are caused by US imposed sanctions and sabotage.
Another annoying setback was that + even the Lima Group of US allies Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, issued a statement after the summit rejecting any military action. Although they speedily recognised American’s man they clearly do not want any mess on their doorsteps. Even Brazil’s Vice President Hamilton MourÃo has repeatedly that his new reactionary government would not allow US military incursions into Venezuela from its territory.
On Monday the European Union hypocritically stated its opposition to military intervention. The spokeswoman for EU diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini, said it “is explicitly quite clear, from our point of view, is that we need a peaceful political and democratic and Venezuelan-owned resolution of this crisis,” seemingly forgetting that that the EU was quick off the mark to recognise Guaidó as the self-declared president. If military action takes place no doubt the EU will have a word with a junior American military attachÉ in Brussels to tell them the EU was disappointed at the turn of events.
At least the United Nations sees through what is going on and declined to get involved in delivering US aid to the South American country, as such involvement would be viewed as taking sides.
As the Americans are still looking for an excuse for military intervention Juan Guiadó had better watch his back out in case his American allies use him as a patsy and arrange for him to be killed so that they have the desired reason.
David Ames, a Wall Street Journal writer and leading Fox News commentator let another cat out of the bag when he pointed out that “If the lifeline is cut between Venezuela and Cuba and Venezuela and Nicaragua, the regimes of the latter two countries, Danny Ortega in Nicaragua and the successor to fidel Castro in Cuba, this may be the beginning of the end of a 60 year tyranny in the island of Cuba and what’s going on in Nicaragua.” This, he added “would provide us with a sense of security in the United States that we haven’t had for 60 years.” While it is of course absurd that the small island of Cuba presents any military threat it is clearly a dangerously inspiring example to the oppressed of Latin America and beyond.
